#The Challenge

Reitium wanted to democratize real estate investment. The idea was simple: let anyone invest in properties starting at $100. The challenge was building a platform that could handle real money transactions while meeting securities regulations in both the US and Canada.

#The Approach

Speed mattered. The founders wanted to validate the market before competitors moved in. I worked directly with the product team to ship fast while building a foundation that could handle regulatory requirements.

Key decisions:

• Next.js for SEO and performance (investors needed to find us)
• Migrated from Tailwind to Chakra UI for faster iteration
• Built forms that could handle complex investment flows

#What I Built

• Investor dashboard where users track their portfolio and returns
• Investment flow that guides users from property discovery to completed investment
• Compliance engine frontend that validates investments against securities rules
• Secondary exchange for investor liquidity (buy/sell existing shares)

#The Results

We went from concept to processing real transactions in 3 months. The platform launched with full regulatory compliance in both markets, and the investment flow was smooth enough that users completed purchases without support tickets.

The foundation we built scaled to handle the growing user base without major rewrites.
